The Immortal Crown - Richelle Mead

This is the second installment of the Age of X series by Richelle Mead. We are back again with the two main characters that were introduced in Gameboard of the Gods, Justin and Mae and the elicit games that are being played with the Gods. Each of them has been chosen by a God and they have some sneaky agendas to fulfill. Mae is such a likeable character with her desire to do right no matter what the situation. She is very admirable even after the adversity she faces when they travel to a country where women are not treated as equals. Justin, I like, but jeeze I just want to slap him sometimes. He doesn’t see how his actions truly affect other people at times, especially not with his decision where Mae is paying the consequence. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but there is a new player introduced in this book that I LOVE!

Overall, I liked the first book, but I LOVED this book. From the first page to the last page I was hooked! The first book had a lot of set-up involved which was absolutely necessary to get the world Richelle Mead built established. There was a lot of set up in Justin and Mae’s characters in Gameboard of the Gods, and in this one we get down to the relationship building between the two. The writing was solid, the plot was solid, but I ended the book with my jaw on the floor dying to know what happens next. This is such a great series and I highly suggest reading them. You won’t be disappointed. Now, I just have to wait patiently for the third book….
